Good news, I'm back with reliable internet and free time, so new tunes should be coming up pretty often. Got lots more Charlottesville jams, new and old, plus more from Richmond, DC, and farther afield. I'm also planning to start doing reviews again, and maybe some other shit, like upcoming shows or interviews, make this more like a real zine. Anyway, stay tuned.
In other news, the Werebear demo is now available for download!

Still Here Zine Update 04/13/10
Yo so I hope people are still digging what I'm putting up here. It seems like there's been a pretty good response to most things. I hope you're liking it, and if you have any comments or complaints leave a comment or email me.
In other news, I fixed the For All Time recordings so they are now of a downloadable size. If you're from Charlottesville, especially, you should make sure you have that. Actually everyone should, it's sort of the first draft of Permanent but harder and a little bit late-90s metalcore-y. Now that I'm thinking about it, if you want to know what Charlottesville's been all about, make sure you check out at least The Landlords, For All Time, Vomit Up Blood, like Shin Kick or Full Court Press, and now Total Wreck, those are some of the most important Cville bands at a glance. Or just click the Charlottesville tag over on the right. Do it, you won't regret it.

Still Here Zine Update 01/31/10
Just pointing out that I've gone back through and added track listings to all the uploads, and live pics to a lot of the bands, plus cover art for the Shin Kick demo. So go ahead and read back through everything, download whatever seems interesting. Drop a comment if you like (or don't like) anything you hear, and I'mma keep adding stuff when I get a chance.
PS.
FCP Tanks. Working on that beater burn.

Full Court Press — Live Set 4/4/08
As far as it goes, this is the only recording of Full Court Press other than our simple demo from half a year earlier. Well, there was the Summer Jamz EP we recorded with Daniel, but no one really knows where that ended up. Maybe it'll resurface in a few years, but I doubt it.
Anyway, I'm reasonably sure this was the Shin Kick tour-kickoff show, and as it was a special occasion, I had asked Mia to film it (she's a film major). It wasn't a wonderfully great show, but rewatching these videos, I'm pretty confident this was how most FCP sets went. Good crowd response, Jake dropping the mic to mosh, us forgetting which song was which, and just generally a lot of fun being had. Sound quality isn't perfect, but is actually surprisingly clear. These are also the only real evidence of our later songs, which were a little more varied and thought out. Plus there's a Vomit Up Blood cover. Pretty cool.
Big thanks to Mia for these.

Judge: The Warriors — YouTube
So this is pretty sweet: it's Judge's cover of Blitz's "The Warriors" set to clips from the movie "The Warriors." Good band, good song, good cover, good movie. Yeap.

Still Here Zine Update 12/9/09
Hey, so I've been doing this for almost a month now, and I feel like it's going pretty well. People have been downloading a little bit, and most people have been pretty positive on it.
I just wanted to let you all know that anyone can leave comments, even if you don't have a blog of your own. You can even leave them anonymously, though I'm not sure why you'd want to. Basically, I'm just encouraging you to let me know what you think about this, and what you think could be better. After all, this is for the readers more than anything else.
Should I put up different genres of music? I've pretty much just been doing stuff I'm into thusfar. Should I do more recent stuff, like review albums that have just come out? Let me know. I could also do an 80s upload segment, if anyone is interested. I could do show/band reviews, etc, too.
I've got finals for the next couple days, and then I'm heading back to Charlottesville for a month, where I don't really get good internet access, so I don't know how much I'll be able to get done for a while. So please, any requests or anything, drop me a comment.

Straight Edge Music — MyFoxBoston
This has been passing around the web for a couple days now. I thought I'd share it with whomever else.
I guess it's just cool to see the edge and the core in general getting some positive press. I mean, at least it's not the Nat Geo special.

The Death of Mistakes Means the Death of Rock
Here's a quick article I found on NPR. Anyone else ever get this feeling?
The Death of Mistakes Means the Death of Rock — NPR
I mean, the same thing applies to hardcore now. Music today sounds a lot more professional than anything from back in the 80s, but it often lacks personality. Every band between like 1977-1986 or so is easily recognizable, but that's not so true today. I don't know, just thinking out loud.

Sup?
Okay, so I guess I'm basically just trying to put some music-related thoughts and jams on the on-line. Hopefully I can upload some good shit, mostly hardcore but I make no promises of sticking with that. I'm probably gonna end up focusing on VA and DC, but we'll see how it turns out. Anyway, let me know what you think.
